***47. From "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A. Kempis... he lived from 1380-1471...

Luke 6:39-42

"Luke 6:39-42 And He also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40 "A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher. 41 "And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 42 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. "

"We will that others be straightly corrected, but we will not be corrected ourselves. The freedom of others displeases us, but we are dissatisfied that our own wishes shall be denied us. We desire rules to be made restraining others, but by no means will we suffer ourselves to be restrained.

Thus therefore it plainly appears how seldom we weigh our neighbor in the same balance with ourselves. If all men were perfect, what then should we have to suffer from others for God?

But now has God ordained this, that we may learn to bear one another's burdens, because none is without defect, none without a burden, none sufficient of himself; but it behoves us to bear with one another, to comfort one another, to help, instruct, admonish one another. How much strength each man has is best proved by occasions of adversity: for such occasions do not make a man frail, but show of what temper he is."

As per me...Do I weigh myself with the same heavy hand that I weigh and judge others? ...not so much I’m afraid! Each of us judge others with a much more critical eye than we judge ourselves, don't we? Would that I would keep my eyes in His Holy Word each day! If I will do so, Christ will reveal my sinful nature and traits to me so that I will see with my eyes more clearly - my own sin. When I am exposed to my own sin through the reading of God's Holy Word and through prayer, I am helped to understand that my depravity is just as great as everyone around me! But now that Christ has opened my eyes so that I can see this about myself, I will be able to see others with “new eyes” - with the ‘love of Christ’ for them, instead of the more critical eye that I have been using all my life before. I thank The Lord...that He saves me from myself!!!

Help me to exhibit Your love, Your grace, Your mercy, Lord Jesus...to those you send across my path today! I pray all this for Your kingdom and Your glory!!!

The Lord blessed me with an opportunity to be involved in a young man praying to receive Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in my private office one morning... I'm telling you folks - it doesn't get any better than this for us seeking to be disciples...and help the Lord in making other disciples! (Oh, and by the way - his father had received Jesus sitting in the same chair, in the same private office about 6-7 years ago. And his big sister had done the same about 4 years ago...! Amazing is our God and Savior Jesus Christ...!!!) (The following was actually in December of 2018...) - In fact...I am in mission to serve my friend from Dental School this weekend (also, this actually occurred about eight years ago) - thus the delay in you receiving this devotional this morning. I’m in Oregon with my atheist friend Steve. Please pray for him...for me...and for Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit in the opening of Steve’s eyes to our Savior Jesus Christ...and his own sin...!!!

Thank you...!!! - (and here we are 8 years later and his cancer is still progressing...and his eyes are still willfully closed to Jesus Christ! Keep praying for him...!) Update on Steve…11/10/25 Yes that was 8 years ago that I flew up there to visit him. Guess what? Over the years of praying for him each day - which now sits at about 43-44 years, Steve is still an atheist! And he called me just this last week to let me know that his oncologist did scans last month and they see no evidence of his cancer remaining! WOW!!! This is the fourth cancer he has had...! Do you think the Lord is giving him chances to receive Him? What great news he had to share with me as he knows I’ve been praying for him all these years! And he knows I will keep on praying for him! I pray the Lord God will draw Steve to Himself as well!

How are you ministering to those around you each day? Are you and I even doing so…?

Think about it...

“Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, even as You gave Him authority over all flesh, that to all whom You have given Him, He may give eternal life. This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”

John 17:1-3 NASB

“And He also spoke a parable to them: "A blind man cannot guide a blind man, can he? Will they not both fall into a pit? A pupil is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take out the speck that is in your eye,' when you yourself do not see the log that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take out the speck that is in your brother's eye. For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart. "Why do you call Me, 'Lord, Lord,' and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great."”

Luke 6:39-49 NASB

“The Jews then gathered around Him, and were saying to Him, "How long will You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly." Jesus answered them, "I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father's name, these testify of Me. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. I and the Father are one."”

John 10:24-30 NASB

“After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven, and the first voice which I had heard, like the sound of a trumpet speaking with me, said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after these things." Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne. And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance. Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads. Out from the throne come flashes of lightning and sounds and peals of thunder. And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God; and before the throne there was something like a sea of glass, like crystal; and in the center and around the throne, four living creatures full of eyes in front and behind. The first creature was like a lion, and the second creature like a calf, and the third creature had a face like that of a man, and the fourth creature was like a flying eagle. And the four living creatures, each one of them having six wings, are full of eyes around and within; and day and night they do not cease to say, "HOLY, HOLY, HOLY is THE LORD GOD, THE ALMIGHTY, WHO WAS AND WHO IS AND WHO IS TO COME." And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, "Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created."”

Revelation 4:1-11 NASB

“So when He had washed their feet, and taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.”

John 13:12-17 NASB

Amen and Amen…!!!
