***46. From "The Imitation of Christ" by Thomas A. Kempis... he lived from 1380-1471...
Ecclesiastes 5:10 NASB
"“He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.” Ecclesiastes 5:10 NASB"
"He who has true and perfect charity, in no wise seeks his own good, but desires that God alone be altogether glorified. He envies none, because he longs for no selfish joy; nor does he desire to rejoice in himself, but longs to be blessed in God as the highest good. He ascribes good to none but God only, the Fountain whence all good proceeds, and the End, the Peace, the Joy of all Saints. Oh, he who hath but a spark of true charity, has verily learned that all worldly things are full of vanity."
As per me...Thomas A. Kempis (1380-1471) was highly regarded and studied by A.W. Tozer ...I figure if Tozer thought so much of him...I should too!!!
This is a "classic" of the faith - "The Imitation of Christ" ...written by Kempis in the 1400's!!!
I find these "giants" in the faith to be understudied, as well as undervalued...in our fast-paced world we live in! We could all learn so much on our walks of faith...if we valued the "determined perseverance" of strong men and women in Christ...who are more than willing to share their trials and victories in their "walk of faith" with our Savior!!!...if we would only take the time to study them!
Will you and I make the time to do so???
Think about it...
Update: (This occurred almost six years ago and Keyea has gotten great reports on her condition now at six and a half years out - we are so thankful!)
My wife Keyea’s breast cancer is being addressed with 3 weeks of radiation treatments that will be starting next Monday - Mar. 23rd. She was fitted to the machine this past Friday and appears to have qualified for a clinical trial that cuts the treatments from 4 weeks to 3... It is the same amount of radiation overall, but in a shorter timeframe. They have found this modality to be just as effective but with even fewer side effects than the 4 week approach.
We are so very blessed that this cancer was caught very early on her routine and yearly mammogram. Thank you all for your prayers for her as we go through this trial and process. Many have much worse trials to deal with and we are praying for them as well!
Keyea and I have a lifelong friend who is a breast cancer survivor of 17 years, but is now going through treatments for multiple myeloma...
Her main problem however is that she and her husband are adamant and diehard atheists! Keyea and I have given them my books and actually asked them to let us share our testimonies with them in their home up in Telluride about 14-15 years ago. They graciously agreed to do so, and we spent about an hour visiting with them before we came home from our family ski trip. They thanked us for doing so and then graciously told us they don’t buy it...and never will...!
Pray for Jill and Mike - we love them so and our hearts go out to them...!
Thank you so much!
Have you got friends who need to hear the gospel? Share Jesus Christ with them before their...or your - time is up...!
Think about it...
Side note: Get ready! These are very interesting times we are living in my friends! And guess what? They are fixing to get even more so…! Pray for our leaders, pray that the light of God’s truth would expose all lies, corruption, and evil that is taking place within our Country and the world! Pray that all of our hearts, eyes, minds, and souls would be turned to the ONLY TRUTH and our only HOPE - Jesus Christ...!
PRAY...!!! And then watch as His will and plan is carried out right before our eyes...! Pray!!!
Think about it...

“Teach me, O LORD, the way of Your statutes, And I shall observe it to the end. Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law And keep it with all my heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, For I delight in it. Incline my heart to Your testimonies And not to dishonest gain. Turn away my eyes from looking at vanity, And revive me in Your ways. Establish Your word to Your servant, As that which produces reverence for You. Turn away my reproach which I dread, For Your ordinances are good. Behold, I long for Your precepts; Revive me through Your righteousness.”
Psalms 119:33-40 NASB
“He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income. This too is vanity.”
Ecclesiastes 5:10 NASB
“Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, 'You must be born again.' The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit." Nicodemus said to Him, "How can these things be?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Are you the teacher of Israel and do not understand these things? Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony. If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? No one has ascended into heaven, but He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God."”
John 3:5-21 NASB
“And I said, ‘Who are You, Lord?’ And the Lord said, ‘I am Jesus whom you are persecuting. But get up and stand on your feet; for this purpose I have appeared to you, to appoint you a minister and a witness not only to the things which you have seen, but also to the things in which I will appear to you; rescuing you from the Jewish people and from the Gentiles, to whom I am sending you, to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who have been sanctified by faith in Me.’”
Acts 26:15-18 NASB
“He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.””
Acts 1:7-8 NASB
Amen and Amen…!!!
